Hi, I'm Jay Nam.
I'm a senior character artist at Blizzard's World of Warcraft Team. I'm really excited about diving into 3D hand painting with you.
Through my courses, I will cover introductory of 3D modeling, the basics of hand-painting, various material expressions, the importance of silhouettes, unification, value and other principles. I will provide feedback on students' works, sharing not only the curriculum but also additional painting techniques.

Also, you will discover how to easily apply colors using Adjustment Layers and how to combine subtle color variations that are suitable for modeling. Plus, you'll learn how to identify colors that complement without losing values.

This course covers everything from modeling to hand painting and final rendering. The modeling sessions will be a concise yet content-rich lecture. Over the course of two weeks, we'll quickly guide you through modeling steps and techniques, including sculpting, retopology, and UV mapping.

When it comes to hand painting, many people frequently make common mistakes. Simply correcting these mistakes can lead to much higher quality results. Also, many people struggle with making hand-painted artworks that are not only good from a technical perspective but also have an artistic charm. In this course, we will provide guidelines for precise stylized painting and guide you step by step to achieve higher quality hand-painted results as you work.

Unification helps create a harmonious and pleasing visual experience for the viewer. By unifying colors, textures, and visual elements, the character appears balanced and well-integrated, creating a more polished and professional look. Unification helps guide the viewer's attention to the character's main features and prevents distractions caused by conflicting or disjointed elements.

5. Face and Hair
We will explore techniques for accurately portraying facial features, expressions, and details, as well as rendering diverse hair textures and styles. We'll cover realistic yet stylized expression and sharing must-know tips for faces.

(Cloth, Metal and Leather)
We will use techniques to paint different textures, highlighting their unique characteristics, adding depth, and accurately painting them. This involves light interaction, mastering folds and drapery, depicting the effects of wear and tear, and conveying the appearance of rusty metal textures.

At Last, you will also learn how to pose your completed character to add final details and enhance the overall visual impact. The finished character will expertly display the it's personality, story, and all the detailed hand-painted elements.
